At some point, the ol’ to-read pile shifts from “someday” to silently judging you from the corner. About four months ago, I called its bluff. No TV, no movies, (barely) any scrolling: just me, the books, and (when the weather cooperated) the sun.
I’ve been on a tear and loving it. But based on this list… what should be next?
Here’s what I’ve read so far (in order):
• Station Eleven – Emily St. John Mandel
• Bel Canto – Ann Patchett
• My Year of Rest and Relaxation – Ottessa Moshfegh
• A Woman Alone at Night – Marissa Crane
• James – Percival Everett
• A Very Nice Girl – Imogen Crimp
• Acts of Service – Lillian Fishman
• Persuasion – Jane Austen
• Good Material – Dolly Alderton
• Fear of Flying – Erica Jong
• Half Empty – David Rakoff
• (Currently Reading) Lightning Rods – Helen DeWitt
