iIve recently read pride and prejudice and really enjoyed it, and it got me wondering what other classics i would enjoy.
so what are some classic literature books that kept you entertained pretty much the whole time?
(the count of monte Cristo is one i wanna read its fucking forever long though, so if you've read it, i would love to know your thoughts.)

Moby dick, jane eyre, frankenstein, the house of the seven gables, lolita, anything by Faulkner or Toni Morrison
Jane Eyre
Rebecca – Daphne du Maurier
East of Eden – Steinbeck
The Razor’s Edge – W Somerset Maugham
Three of my favorites! All terrific!
Crime and Punishment was hard for me to find stopping points every single day because I was riddled with nerves about what was going to happen next. I needed to know!
The count of monte Cristo! One of my all time favorite books.
Ha! I posted the top sentence without actually reading your post. Dude, do it. The penguin classic unabridged version is typically considered one of the better versions to read. I could go into details why you should read the count, but I would want to be careful to only reveal as much as you are looking for. Happy to answer any inquisitions!
If you like Jane Austen, try Anne Brontë’s The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. Am currently reading it and I don’t want to do anything else.
East of Eden, Cannery Row, To a God Unknown and Pastures of Heaven by John Steinbeck
Honestly, didn’t loved Monte Cristo. Dumas got paid per word and it shows.
The Count of Monte Cristo is long, but I loved it. I would also recommend Jane Eyre, Rebecca, To Kill A Mockingbird, 1984, The Handmaid’s Tale and A Room with A View. I am not a Dickens fan (and I live in a Kent town where he used to come on holiday that holds a Dickens festival every year!)
the lady of the camellias by alexander dumas fils (the novel that inspired verdi’s opera *la traviata*!)
persuasion by jane austen (one of my favorite book!)
north and south by elizabeth gaskell (the “industrial” version of pride and prejudice)
rebecca and my cousin rachel by daphne du maurier (a little bit gothic but the prose is *chef’s kiss*)
the three musketeers by alexander dumas
Tess of the d’urbervilles
Really refreshing to have a male author from this time period having a hint of feminist ideas
All of Austen is so much fun. Don’t sleep on Love and Freindship, a truly bizarre and wonderful collection of her juvenile works.
And there are variations of P&P to suit every taste.
I’m a giant nerd and I’ve read the unabridged version of Les Miserables 3 times.
Lord of the Flies
The Woman In White by Wilkie Collins
Brideshead Revisited
I once took an entire class on Thomas Hardy novels at university, which is something I do not recommend doing, but I really enjoyed Tess of the d’Urbervilles
The Master And Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov
As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner
Dead Souls by Nikolai Gogol
Moby Dick is legit an amazing novel and so much fun
Mrs Dalloway and Orlando, both by Virginia Woolf
So far just the picture of Dorian Gray
