With the new movie out, I decided to reread the entire original trilogy and the prequel, and am reliving my 12-year-old fangirl life. Are there any books similar to them fit for an older audience?

Not exactly the same, but The New Wilderness by Diane Cook might tick some boxes – wilderness setting, authoritarian/dystopian government, social experiment in which people have to fight for survival while navigating complex relationships and alliances. It’s also a more literary kind of book (it was shortlisted for the Booker Prize), if that’s what you’re looking for.

    2. The testing by Joelle Charbonneau is pretty great and gives out hunger games vibes,
Divergent of course if you haven’t read them,
The Giver by Lois Lowry is worth a try as well as The Selection by Kiera Cass, Battle Royale of course, Voice of Power by Melanie Cellier, The Four Horsemen by Laura Thalassa, A trial of sorcerers by Elise Kova and a deadly education by Naomi Novik.
