I used to be at a solid C1 level in French but it’s been a while since I’ve actively practiced. I’d like to get back into it through reading. I don't have a preference for genre as long as it is engaging and not too heavy on archaic language.
Any recs?

I really enjoyed No et Moi by Delphine de Vigan recently. It’s a sort of coming of age story about a teenager and a young homeless woman who get to know each other . I don’t think the language is too difficult.
You could also try reading French versions of books you’re already familiar with, as it will be easier for you to follow and figure out any sections with a lot of words you don’t know. Also try reading the French version with the English one to hand in case you need to check something that isn’t clear.
I Who Have Never Known Men was originally published in French. It is a phenomenal novel that is very catching and emotional.
I really liked Jacaranda. Right now I’m reading In Search of Lost Time, I’m not sure I’d recommend but it’s the quintessential french lit book haha
