I’ve been reading Postwar: A History of Europe Since 1945 by Tony Judt, and I just finished chapter six: whirlwind where Judt discusses many of the USSR’s policies toward eastern Europe. And it got me curious to do a deeper read into the Holdomor famine. I’m most interested in reading a historical perspective, but I’m happy to read any kind of book.

(Postwar is a fantastic read, by the way)

For a non-fiction deep dive on the topic can recommend Red Famine: Stalin’s War on Ukraine by Anne Applebaum

For fiction you might be able to find an English translation of Zhovtyi kniaz/Yellow Prince by Vasyl Barka or Maria Ulas Samchuk; both Ukrainian authors who lived through that period
