We need more diverse community and open mindedness.
This book touches on so many points-trans struggles, acceptance and forgiveness, the hollow conformity of heteronormativity, the absurd wedding culture(why we need deadbeat father to walk down on aisle when the bride in the book was raised by her mother?). Asian culture and strict environment and general timidness due to it, etc.
But the biggest point/crime in the book was when the male lead did something unforgivable. He justified that saying he didn't know better, he was a repressed 19 year old Asian kid who wasn't raised in diverse culture.
I have a lot of conflicting feelings on the book(but the author herself is trans so ig she's little more forgiving than me),but yeah, we really need diverse environments because half of the problems will be sorted out. Kids think everyone is equal in that age.
