I have a friend who's more of a comic reader but he's expressed some interest (that I am in no way inflating and jumping on for my own self interest) in trying to read an actual book. So I'm looking for a recommendation for a full grown man who's never read a proper novel.
He likes zombie stuff, his favourite franchise is The Walking Dead, and we're currently playing Last of Us together. He's also been playing Death Stranding pretty constantly lately. Just based on the games we've played I think he'd be mostly into action/adventure/horror/comedy genres.
Thinking some kind of standalone book would be good with relatively basic vocabulary, not too long, not too slow-paced, but also not too childish or young.

The very hungry caterpillar by Eric Carle
On a serious note try Metro 2033 (the book ofc)
Da Vinci Code. I know two people for whom this is the only book they’ve ever read.
