Hello! Any interesting stories that you can suggest to me which are about technology and our relationship to it? Preferably they should feel fantastical.
(Steampunk fits that description but I feel like often it is reduced to just an aesthetic, except for maybe the difference engine by Gibson and Sterling but I still have to read that book)

Fantastical worlds were always my interest, they seemed to provide an escape I could immerse myself in completely. Now I also started to think deeper on why that is and would like to read more stories which are about technology.

I loved reading Jules Verne as a child. The fantastical technological inventions and worlds still are undeniably magnetic for me, but now I am acutely aware of the naive positivity towards technology those stories sometimes have, ignoring the actual horrors they cause by enabling for example colonialism. (in 80 days around the world is definitely the prime example here)

Recently I also read Frankenstein, which has a sort of romantic, regressive stance on technology; that humanity should not uncover certain things. The way technology becomes more so magic than a science is wonderful and it really made me think about our relation to technology.
