I’m a huge thriller, fiction reader and I’m trying to dip my toes in the romance book pool, but I think I need my romance with a bit of a suspenseful, dark punch to it.
If Young Adult paranormal fiction is okay, I liked *The Changeover* by Margaret Mahy.

Any Old Diamonds by KJ Charles. An estranged son hires a professional jewel thief to break into a safe on his father’s isolated gothic estate. It has murder in it and the romance has a heavy dom-sub element that plays with consensual non-con.
