Specifically Eight Days of Luke and Spirited Away. I'm working on a story idea where the MC works at a wayhouse for spirits (from basic animals to "gods" like Loki), and I could really use some suggestions on what to read to find inspiration for this. Prefer adult but MG/YA is just fine, no requirements on which culture(s) are involved. Slight preference to a female MC and a cozy romance.
Just no Neil Gaiman, please.

Howl’s Moving Castle
I don’t think it has those vibes exactly, but Ilona Andrews’ Innkeeper Chronicles series (starting with Clean Sweep) has that sort of setup.
This will sound so weird, but I immediately thought of Eleanor Farjenon’s retelling of Cinderella, *The Glass Slipper*.
Something about it is so whimsical, it might serve as a palate cleanser. It’s probably dated in a variety of ways, but even so….
