Hello all,
I’ve recently gotten into cooking and baking and have really enjoyed reading books about people who’ve weathered difficult times through food. I’m looking for books like Julie and Julia and let them eat cake. Any suggestions?

For nonfiction: Toast by Nigel Slater
For fiction: The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender
Might be a little stretch.. but Chocolat by Joanne Harris.
Aftertaste by Daria Lavelle “What if you could have one last meal with someone you’ve loved, someone you’ve lost? Aftertaste is an epic love story, a dark comedy, and a synesthetic adventure through food and grief.”
A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking? Ok I’m being a little silly here but it was a fun read.
The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister would be a perfect fit.
Like water for chocolate
