    I just finished the Country of Ice Cream Star by Sandra Newman, and it's now my favorite book. I'm unfortunately now in that weird post book slump where nothing else seems appealing. I need help finding something else to scratch that same itch.

    I specifically liked the book for its:
    * Post apocalyptic setting
    * Layered relationships including non-romantic love
    * Unique and poetic writing style
    * Fast paced events and plot building
    * Rich details of characters, setting, or feelings

    Im hoping someone has suggestions that meet some of that criteria. Thank you!!

    1. I don’t have a specific rec but have you tried the website [meetnewbooks](https://www.meetnewbooks.com/)? You can search for books similar to a title and by theme. It’s helped me find some good books to read after really good books that left me in that kind of slump

      These might be charged reads but I’ll drop them here as a a graduate lit student (credentials!)
      – the marrow thieves by Cherie dimaline: it is set in a post apocalyptic and dystopian world where the entire world and landscape shifted, where people cannot fall asleep and dream anymore, leading them to turn their interest to the only people who still can (has heavy themes of colonialism but also found family, tenderness and incredibly writing)
      – Infect Your Friends and Loved Ones by Torrey Peters; also a charged read, this one unfold in a world where a virus prevents people from producing sex hormones, essentially forcing people to chose and raising important questions regarding sex/gender 🙂
