I’m looking for recommendations for completed mystery (cozy, police procedural, thriller etc) series that have a proper conclusion (not something that ends abruptly or gets cancelled mid-storyline). I have a lot of time on my hands in the coming months—my baby was born prematurely at 25 weeks and is in the NICU for a long stay—and I want something I can sink into and pace myself with, to get through this period and keep my sanity.
Already read all Agatha Christie's books!
I’d love a series where I can follow the same detective/character across multiple books, knowing there’s a real ending waiting for me. Open to anything as long as it’s complete and has a wrap-up.
Any recommendations would mean a lot. Thanks in advance!

“Maisie Dobbs” series by Jacqueline Winspear. Series and key characters age beautifully. Each book can be enjoyed as a standalone murder mystery but there are long-running subplots that are enjoyable to follow. Complete at book 18.
If you’re into Urban Fantasy the Alex Versus series is a complete 12 book series with an overarching plot.
It’s an easy and fun read, with each book having its own mystery to solve.
The fantasy element is that various people have natural, limited magic powers. For example only being able to do fire magic, or to move fast.
The MC is a Diviner – so has the ability to anticipate likely near futures – which he uses in really clever and interesting ways.

Chief Inspector Armand Gamache series by Louise Penny (20 books! Starts with Still Life) or (and I have t read them but hear good things) Bad Monkey By Carl Hiaasen series about Andrew Yancy
Electra McDonnell Series by Ashley Weaver
Bangalore Detectives Club by Harini Nagreda
Highway 59 Series by Attica Locke
I’ve really been enjoying the Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch, the audiobooks are so well done! Great detective novels with a bit of fantasy/whimsy to keep them fun. Best wishes for your time in NICU, i cannot imagine the stress 💔💚
Not a series but it’s over 1000 pages. Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
The Matthew Corbett series by Robert McCammon, first book is Speaks the Nightbird.
Caroline Graham’s Inspector Barnaby series. I think it’s 7 books and the series ends. On the cozy side but well written and great characters
