In recent years I developed a love for stealth games and subsequently for stories regarding characters who have to infiltrate somewhere, both by disguise and by hiding. I have never read a spy novel in my life, but I read a few fantasy books where that is a major plot point (I'm currently halfway through Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson and I am delighted about the parts involving that). Escape from New York is my comfort film exactly for this reason and I also like pulpy science-fiction. If somebody knows a science-fiction book that involves a character having to infiltrate somewhere, preferrably a stand-alone, I would love for a suggestion. The plot does not have to stay focused on the stealth part but it has to be an important plotpoint. I would like something that has a bit (or also a ton) of lore to the setting and characters, and some angst and violence, but which is still fast-paced and gripping. If anybody knows anything like that, I would love to read it, it may really improve my mood right now.
