This post has a really weird title, but hear me out.
I'm a young Black, bisexual woman. Despite this, I grew up with a very naive worldview, and it's only just now hitting me that, yeah, some people truly are bigoted. Not everyone grew up like me, where they could freely exist.
I want to educate myself and hear stories about people who were oppressed, and how they survived it. Maybe a memoir about a Black man growing up in the 1960s. Or a queer kid getting kicked out of their religious home. A low class mother trying to make ends meet.

It’s a heavy book, but Radio Free Dixie is about the number #2 black panther guy after he returned from WWII in France.
Look up James Baldwin’s work.
