Please let me know if there is a better place to ask.
My mom’s neighbor is a 14 year old girl. English is not her first language, so it cannot be too complicated. She wants my mother to take her to the library to get an age appropriate book. Any ideas? Thanks.

On what? Non fiction? Fiction and if so what genre?
A series of unfortunate events may be too easy for her age but it does contain a lot of whimsical lines that do take a deeper understanding of the English language to find funny. It could be just a fun way to start out.
*Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl* by Anne Frank.
*The Thief of Always* by Clive Barker
*Un Lun Dun* by China Mieville
The Percy Jackson series might be good, I loved it in middle school. The author, Rick Rordan has other book series that are good too.
I don’t have a specific rec but look for “high low” book for teens. (Actually search this sub too.) Those are books with higher level interest but for readers with lower reading skill levels.
