Hey folks,
I’m looking for a book to gift a friend of mine and could use some help. He’s a bio-engineer, really entrepreneurial in the way he thinks, and he absolutely loves sci-fi, though most of that comes from movies and shows rather than books so far. I’d like to get him something that could pull him into reading. Any recommendations that would make a great first book to gift!?

Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky. I think he could really enjoy the themes of this one.
The Gone World by Tom Sweterlitsch
Leviathan Wakes by James S. A. Corey
Altered Carbon by Richard K. Morgan
Murderbot Diaries, The Expanse
The Odyssey of the Seven Series by KJ Matthews has vibes of The Martian, and Project Hail Mary. Also Lost in Space. If he liked those movies and TV shows, then he may like that series. Also, it’s easy to read and the science is solid.
Barnes and Noble sells Dune (first novel) and the first three books in the Foundation series in their gilded, leather bound collection (https://www.barnesandnoble.com/b/barnes-noble-collectible-editions/science-fiction-fantasy/_/N-2cnbZ180l).
Project Hail Mary !!!

John Scalzi’s **The Kaiju Preservation Society** is fast-paced, fun, and adventuresome.
And if your friend like’s Scalzi’s writing, there’s a large catalog to choose from.
*Biting Off Our Fall* by Author Nazo
*Fabrications* by Author Nazo
Both are short stories that are very well-written!
