Novels set between the mid-1800s and mid-1900s that explore the clash between traditional Asian societies and the rise of a modernized Western world?

I’m especially interested in that ‘swords vs. guns’ era where old empires, monarchies, and warrior traditions are being forced to confront industrial technology, colonial powers, and modern nation-states. I'm not looking for anything genre specific could be slow burn poltical thriller, adventure, pirates or hybrid non fiction. Anything that delves deeper into that period, Better if they are told from Eastern perspective.
