I'm building up a library for my daughter for when she gets older and I want to make sure she has plenty of books involving strong female leads. We have The Worst Witch already.
Nothing with heavy enphasis on romance or crushes, please.

Inkheart by Cornelia Funke comes to mind. I read that in middle school.
The Alanna series by Tamora Pierce (pretty much any book by her, really)
The Tiffany Aching storyline from Discworld by Terry Pratchett
Elaine Cunningham’s Forgotten Realms books, particularly *Evermeet* and the Songs and Swords series
If you’re okay with some standalones:
*Ella Enchanted* by Gail Carson Levine
*Tuck Everlasting* by Natalie Babbitt
*The Girl Who Drank the Moon* by Kelly Barnhill
*Howl’s Moving Castle* by Diana Wynn Jones
The Immortal Secrets of Nicolas Flamel is a good midgrade series, starring twins. It’s not fully a female oriented story, as one of the twins is a boy, but it’s full to the brim with amazing female characters that come straight out of mythology and folklore.
