Soon I Will Be Invincible by Austin Grossman was 2007, so it comes in just under your window! Perry Moore’s Hero (YA) came out the same year. Vicious by V. E. Schwab was 2013.

If you can make it to past 25 years, Nobody Gets the Girl (2003) by James Maxey and Other People’s Heroes (2002) by Blake Petit are two of my favorites.

Ok so if you like the Boys, I’d recommend Hench by Natalie Zina Wolschotts.
Premise is “what if you worked as a temp for evil henchmen” and becomes “wait a minute look how evil the superheroes really are.”
It’s maybe 5 years old and it’s one of my absolute favorites.
The Ex-Heroes series by Peter Clines. Zombie apocalypse meets supers.
Doom1967 on
This Violent Century, by Lavie Tidhar.

I don’t know the show you mentioned, but try **Murder of Crows** trilogy by Chris Tullbane. It’s pretty good, and serious.
TouristResident1976 on
Wearing the Cape by Marion G. Harmon.

Forging Hephaestus by Drew Hayes. Book 3 just came out. The series is really good! He also has another superhero complete series called “Super Powereds” that is also good. Enjoy them!
