Hi! My mom recently partially retired and suddenly found herself with tons of free time she never had before. The first few weeks she just watched a lot of TV but she has gotten tired of that. I've been trying to propose hobbies and thought reading might be a good place to start.
Sadly I read mostly in English and my mom only speaks Spanish so there's not a lot of books I can lend to her from my personal collection. Before I buy some books for her I wanted to look for suggestions.
My mom loves vampires and gothic horror. She loved the TV show Penny Dreadful because it had a bunch of characters she thinks are cool like Vampires, Frankenstein, Dorian Grey, Jekyll and Hyde, witches, etc… (I haven't personally watched the show so sorry if I got something incorrect but you get the idea.) She loves movies about Dracula and Frankenstein.
My first instinct was to just get her the classics but she might get put off if I present her the original Dracula or Frankenstein, since those are long and the language isn't always the most accessible.
Thank you in advance if you leave any suggestions!
