I’m looking some book suggestions for a coworker who is retiring. She is a big reader and will read pretty much anything she can get her hands on.
I’m already getting her “Murder Your Employer” which I know will crack her up and the rest of the office will find funny too.
So I’m kinda looking for something like that. Something with good writing but that’s also got some humor to it (even if it’s in title only). She does like mysteries and thrillers, and my relationship with her is a bit off beat, lots of puns, not taking ourselves too seriously, full belly laughter (she’s got a fantastic laugh that fills the room). She’s quick to make fun of herself and highly emotionally intelligent- attributes that’s made her a wonderful boss whom I’m going to miss very much.
Thanks in advance for suggestions!

Would an ereader, especially one hooked up to your library, be an option?
“I hope this finds you well” could be a good pick if you want to keep going with the workplace humor idea
Staying in the office-related books, I loved ‘[I hope this finds you well](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/200987323)’. Through an IT-mistake the office paria gets access to everyone’s mailboxes. It was such a fun read.
Vacuum Diagrams by Stephen Baxter.
She may like a reading journal and a set of nice pens!
Who Killed My Boss? By Jerilyn duFresne. A lot of fun, sounds just right for your friend. On Amazon.
A gift certificate is going to be your best bet.
A peoples history of the United States
Might have already read them given the popularity, but the Thursday murder club books feels like a fitting retirement gift
For comedy/mystery, One for the Money by Janet Evanovich
You might try some books from the Austen Project, pairing contemporary novels with Jane Austen’s books. I’ve only read Eligibje by Curtis Sittenfield which is a modern take on Pride and Prejudice, but it’s a great story as is the original.
Not a mystery, but based on your description of your co-worker, this could work: “Get Thee To A Punnery” by Richard Lederer.
Amazon description: The Pun Is Mightier Than The Sword…Richard Lederer has great puns. And you don’t have to take vows to enjoy them. Just Get Thee To A Punnery and laugh yourself int a state of grace. Sinners will be punished with such gems as:-Old Milkmaids never die — they just kick the bucket.-Drunk drivers are people who put the quart before the hearse.Whether you like ’em hot or cool, straight-up or low-down, here are puns of every color, stripe and persuasion to suit your every whim. Even if you don’t know that your humerus is your funny bone, this is the book for you.
Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone, by Benjamin Stevenson – It’s a murder mystery, has quite a bit of humor, and is an absolute page-turner.
