I would like to learn about a good story, its elements, how the story should be paced so it's enjoyable, what makes it good, learn about most common, useful tropes. Basically, I'd like to improve my understanding of movies on a bit deeper level.
I'd like to read something similar about video games. How do the designers "control" the player i.e. stimulate his behaviors, encourage them to explore the world or discover new mechanics etc.
I don't intend to create anything of my own, I just want to understand whatever I'm consuming a bit better.
I'm only interested in books, nothing else. The more popular, the better (I'm hoping it will be available in my native language for the optimal understanding).
