So I love traveling as well as reading. Some of my favorite books have been nonfiction books that describe a very appealing setting but aren’t meant to entice you to go to the setting like a Rick Steves book would. The best example of this for me would be Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil where it’s mostly about a murder trial but it describes its setting of Savannah Georgia so well that it makes you want to go there. Same goes for A Moveable Feast by Hemingway. He was not intending to sell people a Paris getaway, but he sure made me want to go to Paris.
Any other good examples of this?

Have you read John Berendt’s other book, The City of Falling Angels? He does an amazing job of capturing the essence of Venice and its citizens.
