what’s a good yet captivating starter book?

my best friend and partner both read, my best friend is currently interested in Steven king and my partner is currently reading fourth wing.
i love the idea of being nose first into a book and always having something to do if bored but i struggle to read large bodies of words if it’s not absolutely captivating.

i had the same problem with movies or shows, if it doesn’t spark my interest asap i struggle to continue watching.

what’s a good starter book that’s captivating? i’m willing to try anything. i’ll try reading via the library before purchasing books.
