What do you mean I won’t be reading about these characters I’m attached to anymore? Unless there’s a sequel the only thing you can do is reread but that’s not great because you already know the story. I just finished another book and the thought of reading about someone else is so strange. Does anybody else feel this way?

Re-reading can be a joy all its own. Yes, you know the story, but you can pick up things you missed the first time. There are some favorites I’ve re-read a half dozen times or more, from Dickens’ Bleak House to Harry Potter, that I still discover new things each time I read them.
Sometimes I feel like I’ll miss the characters and being immersed in the world of the book. Especially when it’s a good, long book. But usually I just move on to the next book and don’t feel weird about it.
It’s fun to imagine how the characters’ lives are like after the conclusion of the story, though!
… until you start the next book and get immersed in another wonderful set of characters 🙂
Yeah, it’s even weirder when you’re the one writing it. It’s really, really hard to let go (from what I’ve heard from those who’ve gotten published)
