Well written books with a good storyline

I’m kinda new to reading and I’m looking for pretty specific books. I like well written books, but not overly done so it’s hard to read and understand. Not against a little romance, but I don’t want that to be the whole book, I want there to be another central storyline.

I’m not looking for any science-fiction, fantasy or dystopian books.

Things I’ve read that I like: Malibu Rising, Where The Crawdads sing
