I have made it a goal to read more and put my phone down to model better behavior for my kids. So far I have read books that mostly lead to me thinking about thinking and I am looking to break the cycle. I picked up a book at random that was not psychology or self help but it was more of the same.

I am looking for something as a distraction, fun, exciting and not too heavy on the how to change your life stuff.

Here is what I have read so far this year:
    – Man’s Search for Meaning – Viktor Frankl
    – Think Like a Monk – Jay Shetty
    – Ruminations – Krs One
    – Tao of Wu – RZA
    – The Courage to Be Disliked – Ichiro Kishimi and Fumatake Koga
    – Steppenwolf – Herman Hess

I enjoyed all these books. Steppenwolf was sitting on my shelf for 13 years and I figured it would be about a wolf or something and just picked it up, it was heavy but good. I just started reading the Hobbit with my kids at bedtime and I think I will save that for bed time and read something else on my own. I am enjoying the Hobbit so far 2 chapters in.

    Started but didnt finish
    – Courage to be Happy – Ichiro Kishimi and Fumatake Koga (stopped because I want a break from thinking about thinking)
    – Eternal Dharma – Vishnu Swami (Just want interested after 1/3 of the book)
    – Big Dumb Eyes – Nate Bargatze (First chapter was too sentimental, and I want something light)
    – Secret History of Bigfoot – Dan O’Conner (the author talked more about himself and politics than bigfoot)

I have Siddhartha sitting on the shelf now but will give it some time before I pick it up. I am considering some classics like Count of Mont Cristo or Portrait of Dorian Grey.

In the past I have stuck to non fiction, I loved learning other people’s stories but I am trying to just get a break from reality and the pressures to succeed and all that.

I’m not sure if I’m looking for just fiction or maybe fantasy/ sci-fi. All suggestions are appreciated. I might just meander around a used book shop but after picking Steppenwolf at random I don’t trust my abilities to judge a book by its cover.
