Witch Hazel tells the story of Hazel. A young girl growing up in Salem, Massachusetts. She lives with her mother and the two are happy. That is… until the trials begin. Fuelled by paranoia and religious fear mongering, the people of Salem would condemn their own neighbours to an early grave.
The search for witches, preposterous! Except… Hazel and her mother are witches. Earth mages to be exact, born with a strong connection to the roots of the world, and the ability to commune with them. The two live in constant fear as more mages in hiding either flee or meet their fate.
Soon the worst comes to pass, and in an effort to save her daughter, Hazel’s mother is executed. Forced to flee the only place she’s ever known, Hazel escapes on a trade ship to Europe, in the hopes of finding others like her.
But soon she finds a spell. A spell that can raise one person from the dead. She can bring her mother back. Undo all her mistakes. Hazel and her newfound allies must scour the continent to find the four ancient relics required by the spell.
But they aren’t the only ones looking…
Witch Hazel is a story of grief in all its forms, and how you can either let it consume you, or make you stronger.
