I know it’s an Unpopular Opinion, but for me that book was Wuthering Heights.

The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice.
I dont think I was meant to read that in middle school and it made me annoyed that people can mess up vampires that bad.

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand – Some people swear by it, others swear it’s a slog of repetitive philosophy lectures disguised as dialogue.
I also run a weekly newsletter where I share book recommendations like this if you are interested. No Spams! https://hi.switchy.io/QGsy

I’m going to regret admitting this but for me it has to be the multi award winning and top 100 most beloved UK book Midnight Children by Salman Rushdie.
It is still the only book I haven’t been able to finish. I’ve even tried more than once but each following attempt I read less of it. I just can’t get into it at all.

Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow. The writing was so bad and there wasn’t much of a story. Honestly bizarre that it’s considered a successful book. I only know of it because it was my bookclub’s selection.

Ok this is my favorite book of all time, but if you are looking for recs where it’s really slow and even “boring” “Jonathan strange and me Norrell” fits. It wasn’t boring to me but a lot of the story is just them working essentially

Piranseni for me. I know it gets a lot of love but it was TEDIOUS.
