I decided to reread 11/22/63 recently and it led me down a rabbit hole of non-horror Stephen King, including:
- Billy Summer
- Duma Key (loved this)
- Mr Mercedes
- Under the Dome (loved this)
- The Institute (loved this)
Now I’m starting Green Mile. I have nothing against King but I’d like to branch out again and get turned onto some new stuff.
I recently read these books but none were nearly as engaging as Stephen King:
– The Lock Artist – Steve Hamilton
– The Fold – Peter Clines
– Tress of the Emerald Sea – Sanderson
– Paranesi – Clarke
– What Happened to Nina – Dervla McTiernan
– The Invisible Life of Addie Larue – Schwab
A few non King books I’ve enjoyed over the last few years:
– Kindred (Octavia Butler)
– The Agony and Ecstacy (Irving Stone)
– Shadow Divers (Kurson)
– The Secret History (Tartt)
– A Gentleman in Moscow (Towles)
– Andy Weir
– Blake Crouch
– The Handmaid’s Tale
– In the Garden of Beasts
– Pillars of the Earth (Follett)
Any suggestions that are as engaging and well written as Stephen King? I’ll try any genre except horror, it just has to be a page turner and keep my attention.
Thanks!
