Hey friends! Having a hard time getting back into my forever love – books/reading. My brain is fried it seems, for a number of different reasons. I started "The Sea" but literally couldn't even process one sentence, because clearly my years of sleep deprivation, ptsd, doomscrolling, and more has decided ne a number on my brain 🙄

It broke my heart but I'm not giving up. I'll come back to the sea later.

For now, help me out with some reco please? Easy to read but Not the commercial garbage with no substance.

In the past year or so, I've read and Loved "The Little Prince", "Maybe You Should Talk to Someone", "Love's Executioner". Just to give you an idea of what my brain is able to digest at this point.
I also read some of David Sedaris's work.

Not too depressing would be great, as i already got a shit ton of that stuff (depression and loneliness ai mean 😅). I love stuff that leaves me thinking, teaches me a thing or two about life and the meaning of it all, or just plain witty content.

Thanks. I don't believe I read anything by Bach. But Illusions sounds familiar. I feel like i tried reading it years ago but somehow didn't manage to.

As for genres i like, I don't think i have a favorite one per se. I know what i Don't like (horror), or what i'd really probably would try if there's no other books left in the world (romcom).

I'm trying to think if i ever read any Fantasy or Sci-fi that stayed with me. Can't recall any, unfortunately.

Mystery is like fastfood to me. I rarely like them, if ever.

I guess it's more about books that makes me think, feel, learn, and stays with me.

I also realized that while i did grow up reading, most of those books were not in English.

These are some of my favorite books from years ago, when i could actually read and digest stuff – One Hundred Years of Solitude, The Alchemist, Kite Runner (forgot if i read it or watches the movie 😬🤦🏻‍♀️), Eat Pray Love, The Power of Now, and so on.

Excited to see what comes in. Merci Mes Amis 🙂
