Hello!
I'm looking for some high-octane science fiction, stories with big ideas, fun action set pieces, and multifaceted characters.
For comparison, I've read and enjoyed The Expanse, Murderbot Diaries, and Andy Weir's novels. I'm also a diehard Mass Effect fan.
I prefer more recent releases, perhaps within the last ten years. Older books have more problematic sexual politics that I'm not interested in reading, so please keep clear of types like Larry Niven, Robert Heinlein, or other similar voices.
Thanks for all of your suggestions!

Getting a little cliche on here but Dungeon Crawler Carl checks all your boxes. I read them based on recommendations on here and was blown away. Never read anything like it. The books get better and better.
The Paradox Hotel is really really fun! Think any Crouch book, but a female lead
Have you tried Ancillary Justice yet? A warship AI gets stuck in its one surviving body and makes it her life mission to avenge her crew, only to bump into a lost (disliked)former crew member thought long dead and is torn between hatred of the empire and the love of its people. The action as the series goes on tends to get less hand to hand and more ship to ship.
Spin by Robert Charles Wilson. I think it ticks all your boxes and fits in with your comps.
Highly recommend Pale Grey Dot by Don Miasek for action sci-fi, if you like a bit of political stuff added in.
