Hi all!
I am looking for something that I find a bit hard to put into words, but after digging for days, I haven't found anything that would resonate with me. I am interested in a book that's realistic, also not focusing solely on romance, but a broader spectrum of relationships and everyday life. The main character/narrator would be in her late 20s or in her 30s. Some elements it could include are usual human feelings, perhaps also some mental health issues or hardships. I would really like some suggestions! Here is a list to better explain this.
Some examples of the vibe I've liked:
– Meg Mason's "Sorrow and Bliss"
– Gail Honeyman's "Eleonor Oliphant is Completely Fine"
– Dolly Alderton "Everything I know about love"
What I don't like:
– YA books
– SMUT or fantasy
– Colleen Hoover or similar authors (no shade, just personally don't like the writing)
– Overly simplistic or shallow
– Books which only focus on romantic relationships
Thanks!

Here are a few options to look into: Disorientation by Elaine Hsieh Chou, Beautyland by Marie-Helene Bertino, The Collected Regrets of Clover by Mikki Brammer, Greta & Valdin by Rebecca K Reilly, Olga Dies Dreaming by Xóchitl Gonzalez, Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi
grab Convenience Store Woman immediately… it’s that same vibe of “i don’t fit normal life and maybe that’s okay?” plus it’s short so low commitment if it doesn’t land
Annihilation
