Hi everyone, im a 39 year old new father, i know how to read but ive never read a book in my life (other then a couple 6 page cardboard baby books ive been reading him). I want to be able to read to him and eventually read with him and teach him how important reading is. I've always wanted to and ive bought books before but never made it past a couple pages in. I Wanted to see if any of you have and recommendations of some small easy to read books to get me started in my spare time thay aren't children's books. Thanks in advanced for any advice.

    1. Immeandawesome on

Project Hail Mary? it’s sci-fi and VERY entertaining. OH and Mistborn!! Its a fantasy and also extremely fun to read. It’s a bit on the longer side but its pretty easy to read and flies by. It is a teensy bit YA but to be honest I think its mostly for adults.

    2. Maybe try some urban fantasy on for size?

      – The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. Most of the books start right in with some major action, which should help draw you in to keep reading.

To form the habit, set aside “X” amount of time every day to read. Put down your phone, preferably in another room, and silence all distractions. Do that, and you’ll be reading in no time.
