Suggest me a book involving an unwitting hero being pulled into a larger conspiracy in the world around them

Hey I’ve been getting into stories about a seemingly normal character stumbling upon some sort of evidence that there’s a wider plot/conspiracy in the world around them and they become a reluctant hero recruited to help stop the plot around them.

I’m thinking of something akin to Neo in the Matrix but it doesn’t have to be sci fi.
