I’m looking for a few suggestions for the romance book club I run! Other members have requested something new/upcoming (we’ll be reading whatever books after January) with less spice and more emotional connection and closer to closed door! Authors or specific titles are equally welcome, I like to pick books that have come out in the past year that are traditionally published and in paperback!
Edit to say I’m a bookseller and I’m SUPER familiar with all the most popular authors (Emily Henry and Abby Jimenez and etc), none of their new books meet my current criteria (they’ve been coming out in hardcover 🥲🥲)

check out emily henry’s novels!! almost all fit ur criteria, and are super highly rated. the only ones that come to mind are “beach read” though so…maybe find a fall one lol

r/romancebooks may be able to help too 🙂

I read *Slipstream* a few weeks ago, and really enjoyed it! It was a little spicey, but not overly so IMO!

    3. The Trouble with Anna by Rachel Griffiths came out in the spring in paperback. Regency romance where Anna is forced by the will of her beloved grandfather to marry a specific man. It’s a slow burn that pays off, and Anna’s friend is a delight. Griffiths doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but she’s made a bike that’s super fun to ride! Mixed metaphor, because Anna is also a horse girl, so there is great horse racing to boot.

One on One by Tabitha King. A little spicy in places, but the emotions feel real and run deep. Don’t let the sports theme put you off. It’s more of a background character.

    5. A Brothers Price by Wen Spencer.

In a world where males are rarely born, they’ve become a commodity-traded and sold like property. Jerin Whistler has come of age for marriage and his handsome features have come to the attention of the royal princesses. But such attentions can be dangerous-especially as Jerin uncovers the dark mysteries the royal family is hiding.
