Hi all, hoping for someone’s help here.
My brother is seriously considering joining ICE and I am bewildered and want to give him a starting place to hopefully help him see how fucked up it is.
For context, he’s been out of work for several months and the financial incentives are really good. He’s also been in a relationship with a MAGA woman and so I know he’s gotten sucked into that insane right wing universe.
I consider all MAGA people to be in a cult, and my belief is that the best way to help someone leave a cult is NOT to shame or isolate them, but to make them feel safe to ask questions about the cult principles.
So I’m struggling figuring out what book I might be able to recommend.
One on authoritarianism? “The Undocumented Americans” or something similar? A history of ICE?
Please help because I’m at a loss.

Well, maybe one on authoritarianism. A story about undocumented immigrants won’t do much good since that would require empathy and your brother seems to not have a soul 🙃. Sorry.
