I’ve lately been reading some books that were made into films by the Coens and Paul Thomas Anderson (No Country for Old Men, True Grit, Oil!, Inherent Vice, Vineland). Invested in the idea, I also recently read The 25th Hour (Benioff) and Killshot (Leonard), though was disappointed in both, the former far more than the latter—Benioff is a hack. Any suggestions to get the taste of those last two out of my mouth?

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is unrivaled to this day.
Lonesome Dove mini series is spectacular.
Shogun, both shows were pretty good.
Silence of the Lambs is a classic that holds up well.
Disney’s Alice in Wonderland (the old one) is hilarious.
Harry Potter sucks and Rowling ripped off the whole idea from Ursula K Le Guin’s Earthsea cycle, a far superior book series.
Jeff Vandermeer’s “Annihilation” adapted.by Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Ex Machina) ~ which is the first of a tetralogy; all 4 books are incredible imo: Biological/ Psychological Sci-Fi/Horror. The film doesn’t hold a candle to the books.

Arrival is based off of Ted Chiangs short story “stories of your life”. This is both my favorite movie and top 5 reads of all time for me. I also ditto annihilation. I’d add dune in thr sci fi category.
Loved Shogun, Dune, Harry Potter series is legendary.
To Kill a Mockingbird (Harper Lee) – and movie (1962).
The Body (Stephen King) and Stand By Me (1986) – and many more Stephen Kings. He’s a great storyteller.
No Country for Old Men would be happy high on my list, as are the Lord of the Rings series.
