Post:
I’m looking for something immersive with a great cast of characters and solid worldbuilding.
Preferably not too depressing or overly grim, though I don’t mind bleak circumstances as long as there’s some light or hope.
I like a bit of romance, mystery, and tension that keeps me hooked.
Books I’ve enjoyed:
- Mistborn trilogy – loved the pacing of progression. cool magic system, my favorite parts were her undercover going to the galas or balls (10/10 for The Final Empire) I didnt like book 3 as much with Elend completely changing
- The Will of the Many – incredible edge of your seat tension start to finish. nice worldbuilding , loved every moment
- Fourth Wing – I liked the easy to grasp fun upbeat nature, easy to read; dragons and fighting are always cool. I bought this in person at barnes and noble having no idea it was adult
- Dungeon Crawler Carl – super entertaining, would have been nice with more of a cast
- Tower 4 – great audiobook, nice mystery, I liked the deep isolated vibe
Books I started but didn’t finish:
- The Lies of Locke Lamora – found the writing style hard to process quick enough. felt like I should like it more but didnt
- The Black Tongue Thief – couldn’t get into it idk why but I couldn't remember the plot
Soon to read:
- Red Rising (friend is lending them all to me)
Favorites (for tone):
Shows – Arcane, Stranger Things, (just rewatched maze runner movie so I'm intrigued)
Games – Halo 3, Kingdom Hearts 2, Portal
Based on this, what should I read next?

The Game at Carousel
Terry Pratchett’s Discworld. There’s a few different places to start, but I recommend Guards! Guards!
Lord of the Rings
If you liked mistborn, try way of kings!
