Hi all,
I’m looking for recommendations as I feel like I’ve tried everything now.
After ACOTAR, nothing has hit the same for me. I saw lots of recommendations for City of Gods and Monsters – I read the first two books but didn’t love it nearly as much and was actually pretty bored.
I read book 1 and 2 of Crowns of Nyaxia and didn’t really enjoy that much either.
All my friends say TOG – But I JUST CAN’T get into it!!!! I did kind of enjoy the first two books, but could not get past the first few chapters of Book 3 (Heir of Fire). I seriously lost interest. Everyone says to push through or change my reading order (read assassins blade) but I’ve seriously lost interest.
My problem is (and please don’t judge me) when there becomes too much to remember eg worlds, political things etc…I felt confused reading Book 3 TOG for this reason and just wanted something easier to read- but still good.
It doesn’t even have to be fantasy, I honestly never read much fantasy before ACOTAR and sometimes I feel like the fantasy element is overpowering and over complicating it for me, somehow acotar had the best balance and maybe that’s why I feel like I’m looking for a needle in a haystack. Cliche example but even Twilight has that great balance that I love.
I’m such a quick reader and I usually read books in one sitting – since my slump I’ve read a bunch of Freida Mcfadden (quick and easy reads that I power through), The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (loved it) the Twisted series (don’t judge me), and Project Hail Mary (loved it). Also a bunch more crappy tiktok romance series’ that are just cute average reads that do the job.
But I want MORE, I want that ACOTAR feeling, I want length (not just one book I can read in a single sitting!!)
Is there anything out there for me???
TL;DR: Looking for book recs similar to Acotar but not necessarily fantasy. Ideally longer books/series.
