Please get me into (adult) Fantasy. Something that’s realistic or doesn’t involve much suspension, and maybe found family

I have only enjoyed one fantasy series. I don't remember what it was but it was targeted for middle schoolers. It was a mix of many genres and it was more on the realistic side, where I didn't have to completely suspend everything I know, and involved found family which I have a weakness for.

I'm looking for something to get me into fantasy. I'll give anything a chance as long as it's not a clear spin off of something else.
