Hi everyone,
I have been reading a lot as a kid and a teenager, then only here and there in my twenties. Now since I had a baby some months ago a have a great opportunity to listen to audiobooks and enjoy reading through listening again. I would like to read some fantasy book/series that does not have a huge scale or too much politics but centered more about life and adventures of one or several characters. My taste:
Harry Potter is all time favourite, it sparkled my love to reading. Have recently reheard it and I felt home. German voice actor Rufus Beck was amazing.
When I was a teenager I also read and enjoyed Eragon, Lord of the Rings, Hobbit, Twilight Saga and Dhampir (when I didnt have enough of Twilight as a 15 yo girl lol).
As an adult I have read and truly enjoyed The Dark Elf trilogy, The Witcher (twice) and ASOIAF.
I wanted to dive into a new fantasy world and picked Mistborn, made it through the first book but somehow didnt find the characters written good enough and the scale was too big, and there was too much politics for my taste. I did like the magic system though and still conside lr finishing it in the future. Right now I am 2/3 through the first Scholomance book (was looking for something similar to Harry Potter/academia), but I truly dislike El as a character and the first person writing of this one.
Could you suggest me a fantasy series that tells about adventuring, has some more slice of life perspective? I am also ready to try another magical academia but with a more humble main character.
I will be listening to the books in German so if someone has a good recommendation related to a German voice actor, I will be happy to hear it!
