I like thriller/crime/horror, so anything serial killer/missing persons/mystery, which seems easy right? There's a million and one books in those categories that I could chose from, but the issue is, I am SO picky.
I hate anything supernatural or paranormal, so no ghosts/aliens/demons/curses/you get the idea. And the story has to be somewhat believable, which is the hardest part. Nothing that would be anything like Netflix parody TWITHAFTGITW.
If you have any suggestions for me let me know. The darker and more sinister the better.
Some of the books I have read in the last 12 months:
Brother by Ania Ahlborn – 10/10, not only do I love her writing style, but the plot of this book was great.
The Unseen by Ania Ahlborn – 7/10, I only read this because of my love for Brother and the supernatural aspect of the storyline was somewhat minimal, but it was still too supernatural for me to ever want to read again but overall I did enjoy the book and the way it bounced around to the different view points.
Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter – 2/10, this book was ridiculous and laughably unbelievable. One of the worst books I have read in a very long time. This is such a well known and well loved book, but I found it incredibly stupid.
The Tenant by Frieda McFadden – 4/10, I am hit or miss on whether I enjoy Frieda's writing, this one was just okay, but the entire thing was super predictable and cheesy.
The Boyfriend by Frieda McFadden – 5/10, felt the same way as I did with The Tenant, though I enjoyed this storyline a bit more.
Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell – 7/10, you never really knew where this book was taking you which kept me very engaged.
Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine – 1/10, I read the entire series because they were gifted to me but the person who gave me these books must actually hate me because WOW, they were the worst books I have ever read.
I Need You to Read This by Jessa Maxwell – 7/10, very engaging and not as predictable as I initially thought it would be

Since you liked Then She Was Gone, you may like Lisa Jewell’s None of This Is True. That book is wild. Gillian McAllister’s books don’t have any supernatural component either. Just Another Missing Person is my favorite of hers.
