I'd love to read more funny sci-fi written by women, eg Martha Wells, Becky Chambers. Can anyone suggest a few authors or books I should check out from the library?
“The Last Watch” by J. S. Dewes is mostly serious, but has also its share of lighthearted moments

Connie Willis alternates between incredible emotional writing, like I cried at most of the Oxford Time Travel Quartet, and sharp satire. (For peak funny and no big feelings, try To Say Nothing of the Dog.)

I also recommend the short story [And Then There Were N-One](https://www.uncannymagazine.com/article/and-then-there-were-n-one/) by Sarah Pinsker, a murder mystery that takes place at an interdimensional convention for Sarah Pinskers.
Both A Civil Campaign and Captain Vorpatril’s Alliance by Lois McMaster Bujold have hilarious scenes.
The Chronicles of St Mary’s by Jodi Taylor. Although some people consider it to be fantasy.
