Westerns set in the latter half of the 20th Century (1950’s-1990’s)?

I loved No Country for Old Men (the book, obviously). I’ve never particularly enjoyed westerns, but there was something about the time period and setting that captured me from page one.

After finishing that, I decided to take a shot on another McCarthy novel – Blood Meridian. Not for me. It reminded me why I’ve disliked a lot of other westerns.

Anyway, do you folks have any recommendations on modern westerns (meaning year/s the novel is set in, not necessarily writing style)? I did love the time period No Country for Old Men was set in (1970’s-1980’s), but anything set in the latter half of the 20th Century will do.

(Btw, although I mentioned two McCarthy novels, any author is fine)
