I’ve never read an Agatha Christie. Where should I start?
I read a lot and enjoy this subreddit very much. History, mystery, classics, I love them all. Christie has created such great characters. I am hamstrung on the best way to get acquainted. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Honestly you could start anywhere! You can pick one that jumps out to you? Though I think my pick would be “And Then There Were None” then move onto some Hercule Poirot

‘And Then There Were None’ was my first Agatha Christie.

Either And Then There Were None or Murder on the Orient Express are classics!

I’m a Poirot person so I’d start with Mysterious Affair at Styles and follow him from there. If you think Miss Marple might be more your jam then start with Murder at the Vicarage and go from there! You can’t go wrong either way. (I also think And Then There Were None or Crooked House or other standalones are fine but it’s more fun to get into your detective and be a completist!)

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd

My first was *The Murder of Roger Ackroyd*. I loved it, got hooked. That being said I generally prefer Miss Marple to Poirot. *Death on the Nile* and *A Caribbean Mystery* are great! *Caribbean* even has a sequel!

I was obsessed with Agatha Christie in my 20s and read everything she wrote and then moved onto the books she wrote under her pseudonym Mary Westmacott and then the book somebody else wrote about her mysterious disappearance. You can’t go wrong with any of them.

Murder on the Orient Express was my first Christie. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is a great book. I’d also recommend Death on the Nile.

I like her play “Mousetrap.”
