I've read quite a few books but many I don't relate to, despite many people having characters or books they do relate to. Nothing ever really seems to hit in the correct way, nor does anything really feel relateable to my own state, leaving me kinda lost with nothing to take inspiration from to get me out of my delf-deprecating mindset.
I need a book about a nobody. Not like Odysseus nobody since he was a great hero. I mean a book about someone who is seemingly nothing, or sees themselves as nothing. No rich household, no love story, no underdog story. A story about someone who, despite their attempts, their dreams, no matter how hard they push, it all just amounts to them being constantly reminded that they are nothing. I've always thought such a story didn't exist. Underdog stories are close but often unrealistic, and the characters often have redeeming qualities such as an unwavering resolve and a refusal to be brought down by reality. I'm looking for someone more pathetic and more vulnerable to the crushing weight of reality, and how they managed to deal with it in the end.
