I have some antique books and some with gilted covers and spines. Some are various shades of green and one is red. Do antique books 1800s-1900s have lead, vermillion, mercury, etc in them? Should I be worried about handling them? There’s one I particularly love with a cloth cover and back it’s red and had some gold on the images on the front and I worry it has vermillion in it.
