Looking for stories with a specific kind of yearning

Looking for books/stories where there is romantic or sexual yearning – mainly because of life constraints.

Not looking for star-crossed lovers, yearning when you don't know if the other person is into you or not, or the styles of Call Me By Your Name or Portrait of a Girl on Fire.

More like "why the fuck did I fall in love with someone on the other side of the country", or one of them need to be dealing with a sick parent so they have no time/capacity, or that world events just keep getting in the way (just as examples).

Bonus if it's queer, but it doesn't have to be.
